Having a screen turning off issue on Windows Phone 8.1

Hi. I have a Lumia 520 and I have updated to Windows Phone 8.1
Since the update I have been experiencing a weird issue. When I got an email or a text message notification during the phone is idle the screen is turning on, which is completely normal. What is not normal that the screen is not turning off a few seconds later but remains turned on and nothing happens. This is quite annoying if it happens in the middle of the night and the phone screen lights for hours.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

I noticed the same problem. I'm not sure whats keeping it on. :/ I have quiet hours so it doesn't really bug me in night.

Yes it could be a solution but I would prefer a repair of the bug instead

I am having the same problem. Recently my HTC One running windows 8.1 is not shutting off the screen. Also, seems like whatever tells it to shut off in my pocket is not working.
