Having issues with IE

The last few days, I've been having issues with IE. I used to be able to just close a tab, without having to keep hitting the back button until it closes, now I have no choice. When I just try to close the tab, the screen just turns black. I can add a TAB, but I can't close the existing one. Now today, I can't even open up IE at all anymore. Anyone has any suggestions.
