Headphones and Window Mobile

I have a ATT Lumina 640 running Windows 10 Insider Fast Ring. Recently, my headphones with an integrated mic/remote are no longer recognized by the phone. Regular headphones (only 2 rings instead of 3) continue to work. I tested the headphones and they continue to work with an iphone and a kindle fire. Any ideas? Also I have read about a Gadgets setting, but I only see Devices. Thanks.

Have you tried soft reseting your device? I don't know what the problem is to be honest. I've been using mic on my headphones for phone calls for some time now and had no problems at all. I'm also using 640 on WM10

I tried another pair of headphones with a mic and they work. It is weird that the other headphones will work in other devices, but not my phone. Thanks.

headsets come in two varieties. the connector looks the same, but wired differently

going from the tip to the shaft:
OMTP is left audio, right audio, microphone, ground
CTIA / AHJ is left audio, right audio, ground, microphone.

some devices can recognize the headset type and rewire themselves to work, others can't.

my guess is thats whats going on
