Headphones

zedmartinez hit it on the head. I settled on the Urbeats HTC headset because it was the only headset that I could find with volume control that would work with The Lumia 920. I bought a pair of Bose headphones for Android and they worked, but like the Klipsch they only had a single button for answering calls. At first I wanted to buy a cheaper pair because I am pretty hard on them. I found a pair of Phillips, Skullcandy, and Frogz that were compatible but they all only had a single button. I spent an extra $50 for volume control. The Beats come with 6 or so styles of ear pieces so its easy to find one that fits well.

Hey, someone else using the urbeats on the 920! Woot. I was pretty disappointed with them when i bought them, because I don't know what music all the reviewers were listening to, but on a rock/techno blend they were really muddy on the low-mids. Fortunately, the 920 arrived the next day with it's life-saving 7-band EQ that let me compensate for the "Monster Signature Tone Curve" baked into the Beats, and now I'm actually pretty happy with them, having come from Ultimate Ears armature sets. And, having all the controls work is a real treat after living through a couple years without them.

It seems the Nokia purity line are all either the ones that feel like they go halfway into your brain or the over-ear headphones.

Seems like I'm a very low % of people who can't use the "in-ear" headphones :/

I would still give them a try. Technically the ear pods go in your ear too. I don't know what return policies in the UK are like, but out here you can basically buy something and return int 2-4 weeks later (extended now for holiday shoppers). I certainly wouldn't buy a pair of earbuds on looks alone, they range in comfprt level even for those without the issues you say you have.

Also, if you are up for the challenge, you can also mod a pair of earbuds. I have seen this done, with the end goal being getting the correct volume up/down controller, with some skull candy buds that were devoid of that feature.

I have no trouble with ones that sit in your ear but the "in-ear" ones I mean are the ones that go into your inner ear - they make me feel very dizzy!
