Heart rate sampling rate during run: once every 30s. Bug?

Hi guys, I know we have a lengthy thread on HRM accuracy, but I'm curious about sampling rate. According to MS there should be much more data (once per second for runs), but it doesn't look like that on my recent graphs. The exercise below was 17 minutes (don't judge, I was tired) but I only count about 38 data points. Worse: every second data point looks identical to the previous one.

Is this normal and have I just not looked at such a short section before, or is something wrong? Is it a display choice by MS, a display bug, or a data logging bug? GPS data seems much more dense, maybe once every 5 seconds looking at the track.

Edit
: it looks like there's two things going on here. One: it looks like all graphs that people post show about one data point every 30s, so presumably that is some averaged version of the actual (dense) HRM data. So first comment: I would like a running average showing many more points.

And second, the strange horizontal sections probably indicate that HR sync is lost. Oddly, this seems to have started after a pause in the middle of a bike ride last week, see second graph that I posted earlier in the 'HR is inaccurate' thread. So I'm still thinking bug, or maybe broken HR sensor?

It's pretty clear to me that the graphs are either averaged or somehow reduced from what you see on the display. I have one post showing my manual logging next to the MS Health graph. From my most recent post, I'm seeing that where the HR sensor is located can make a big difference. Just moving it 3/8 of a inch can be night and day. You might think about if you've made any changes in how you wear it.

Definitely. So one thing I'd like to see is that they show more frequent data points. They could show the average of the last 30 seconds (averaging the last 30 readings) and update that value every 5 seconds.

As for sensor position, I have not changed anything that I can think of. I might have to reset the band to see if that improves things.

Hopefully the website (once complete) will give us better insight. Sounds like it supposed to go live in December *sigh*.
Fitbit does the same thing where the app shows a generic chart and the website is a bit better.

By the way, is there a soft reset for this thing? I haven't turned it 'off' yet, maybe a reboot is enough to fix it, but I don't know if that's even possible.

Joe before you go the reset route, remember to take a damp cloth to the sensor under the clasp -- I remember reading a post last week about sweat building up on it.
