Hello.
I am a student studying civil engineering at university.
I want to go for a SP2 or SP3 but I'm totally stuck which one to choose ( I don't have more money for a ci7 )

Surface Pro 2 with core i5 4200u and 128 GB for about 818$
Surface Pro 2 with core i5 4200u and 256 GB for about 947$ ( with keyboard )
Surface Pro 3 with core i3 4020y and 64 GB for about 787$
Surface Pro 3 with core i5 4300u and 128 GB for about 810$

Can I run autocad 2016 on all of them with 2D ?
Is SP2 still worth buying?
Can i3 4020y run autocad 2016 flawlessly? Or should I get a i5 at least?
My budget is heavily limited and I want to go for the least expensive if possible.

2D on AutoCAD is not intensive so you can run it on a fairly low CPU. An i3 would suit just fine but I do recommend i5 for any graphics processing personally. Though I run AutoCAD on my HP Envy Laptop with AMD A6 CPU with little issue. Even in 3D.

I'd go with an SP3 if you can get it otherwise SP2 will suit.

RAM for AutoCAD is more important than the CPU. Also it takes up quite a bit of space so more hard drive space wouldn't hurt.

I hope you're planning on hooking it up to a larger screen and using a mouse. Nothing worse than working on a CAD program with small screen and no middle button...
