yeah, I think it's wise to stay away from the dvp. It was my first choice device when wp7 was announced but its had 2 recalls (wifi issues, then unable to read sim cards) and was delayed 3-4 times. I just don't trust dell right now. I would wait for the next release of phones then look around the internet and see if people are complaining.
I ended up getting the hd7 and I do really like it, but I can see the allure of the focus.

Personally, I prefer a touch screen phone w/ a physical keyboard. I hate giving up screen real-estate for a keyboard, not to mention that I make more typing mistakes with a virtual keyboard than a physical keyboard. At least w/ a physical keyboard, I can rely on keyboard feel to crank out words, but on a virtual keyboard, I have to rely more on my eyes to see what letters I am typing.

Having said that, I like my Focus alot, enough to get over my virtual keyboard gripes. Since I'm an AT&T customer, I could have opted for the LG Quantum, but the Quantum was not that much different than my Nokia N900 in regard to screen size and bulk. I figured that if I was going to replace my bulky N900, then I'd a thinner phone with a larger touch screen.

If Dell made the Streak 5 in WP7 flavor, then I'd rock that.

Michael.

I've actually seen a very large percentage of people who have replaced their DVP sd card have huge success. I can say I'm convinced thats the problem with all the freezes. I am going to contact Dell about the DVP att 3g bands and how soon upcoming models should be released.

ps. is it just me that believes the DVP's extra bulk is worth having that keyboard to fall back on, even if its just used rarely?

Yes, I do believe that "extra bulk" attraction is just you lol jk. I know the current Dell Venue Pro does not support AT&T's 3G bands, whether the revised version does or not, I can't say. All I can say is, this OS is growing and growing faster than everyone thinks, it's just the people that ***** and gripe about not having updates that make it seem like it's taking forever to move the OS. Microsoft just needs to get ready to set their stride, look at what happened to the first update a bunch of Samsung devices were problematic. now that they know about it, they fix it and move on (I'm pretty sure it'll allow them to move quicker too) and more devices will be made, better quality, newer hardware better features that WP7 will support in the future. So if you need one right now at this moment and it has to be AT&T best bet is Samsung Focus. If you can wait; then perhaps other OEM's will make phones with physical keyboards with AT&T's 3G bands and who knows that new Dell device might support them...
