How can I get my battery working on my Lumia 520?

My lumia 520 has been encountering problems

Recently, my nokia lumia 520 has been encountering some problems. First, the battery stopped working so I put a thick piece of paper between the battery and the edge of the phone so the receivers could sense the battery. Now, the phone keeps shutting off and turning back on (not restarting, but completely shutting down then, after a while, will randomly turn back on. Now, also, the SD card will stop working with an error message.

Where are you located? Any water damage? Are the buttons on the cover damaged?

Sorry, had to create an account to post. I am in the United States, and there is no damage except light cosmetics.

Now the battery isn't working sometimes even with the paper.
