How can I get my Keyboard detach button working?

Keyboard detach button not working

The button on my keyboard to detach it doesn't work anymore. I've tried holding it down longer but nothing happens still. No matter how many times I try restarting it still doesn't work. Right now, to detach the keyboard, I have to click the software detach button on the taskbar. I'm not positive, but I think this started happening after one of the recent Windows updates. Has anybody else had this problem or figured out how to fix it?

I'm having the exact same issue, and to get it to detach, I have to use the software detach button as well.

I'm gonna follow up with MS and see if I can get an answer...

Yikes, no... I have not had this issue. I use the hardware detach button almost exclusively, too. I hope you guys get this sorted out.

My detach button stopped working as well. The little red light on it was always lit but the tablet wouldn't detach. I took it back to the MS store. They replaced it.

I took it to the Microsoft store as well but they said they'd have to replace the entire device, not just the keyboard. I wasn't ready to have to re-setup my entire computer again so I'm just going to hold on to it for now. Were you able to just get the keyboard replaced?

Shut down surface book. Then hold the power button and volume up for 15 seconds. Go into bios the just exit out and let the laptop restart. Will fix your detach button mate.

No, they replaced the entire laptop. I had about 10 hours of configuration in it and had to start from scratch. The second time around only took me about 4 hours, but still...

Didn't do anything for me. The button is pretty much dead. Its backlight still works, but when the keyboard lights turn off when idling, pressing the eject button doesn't make the keyboard light up again when any other button will. I'll probably just get this replaced at the microsoft store eventually at this point. I'm waiting to see if they're going to offer just keyboard replacements.

Deetach button onmindoes not work either. Hitting it does not activate the backlight like other buttons do. Is it just dead?
