How can I hide folders on my memory card?

Hide folders on memory card

Is there a way of hiding an entire folder on memory card such that its contents are accessible only via a file manager( Files ) and not via gallery.
I mean to say if the folder contains an image file(jpg,etc) then this image should not be visible in gallery similarly if it contains an audio or video file then these files shouldn't be accessible via music or video player respectively.
I have used " Lock and Hide " and it served my purpose but i want a way where in one can directly change the attributes of file/folder to hidden so that they are not visible in gallery(Photos).

In Symbian phones, images, videos could be hidden, when you keep them in cities folder, try that in your WP, if it works be sure to leave a reply.

IN Symbian there was an app/file manager called x-plore which allowed the user to change the attributes to hidden..i was looking for a similar app/file manager.
Btw where is the cities folder located?
U mean mapdata?

Yep, in memory card, phone memory, has cities folder which has map data. Even if you don't have that folder, don't worry, make a new one & you could still hide photos & videos in Symbian

I know that! When I feel the need to hide something on my WP, I'll figure it out then.

I know that in WP8.0 that the pictures hub only read files in the pictures directory. Music Hup only read files in the music directory. I don't know how WP8.1 works, but try placing your files in a folds other than the Pictures folder or the Music folder. Maybe they wont be indexed in the respective apps, thus being essentialy "hidden" other than using a file manager.

See, that's when I didn't even try to hide anything in my phone. Now even I'll put some stuff in my phone, which only I could view it from my map data.
