side load google play on wp10

Earlier today I stumbled upon an article (I don't have enough posts to post links yet...noob problems) from gadgets . ndtv

apparently someone at xda-developers made it possible to sideload the google play store on wp10 including running android apps

does anyone know the validity of this?? has anyone tried it??

Re: side load google play on wp10

Windows 10 Mobile has the famous "Project Astoria" that runs Android applications.

I believe the Play Store has indeed been sideloaded (its been done on BB10 for example) but no Play Services however, which is crucial for many applications. Many have tried Android apps to varying degrees of success, but discussion is limited here I believe.

xandros, you may know more than me, as i have only looked into it briefly, and haven't even got w10m myself now, but i am sure i saw a system/method where the play services were taken care of and rendered not a problem, sorry for not being able to post the link, as i cant find it now, but am sure that was the crux of it. others may be able to confirm this.

I tried for hours to get the xda devs instructions to work, it just does not work and barely is legible. He has you copy apk to a Folder on Your device and use adb shell to set chmod permissions. Then he says reboot. You do that and the app oes not show up in your app list. Try to install it the normal way and it just fails to open. Try to use gmaps patched and then install it, same result. Plus even if it did work, the apk wont run in the background.

From what I know, it's eather not possible, or kinda possible but not usable. You can get more info on XDA.
