But, what version of the OS do you have? The Window 10 Mobile OS support ended this year. I'm not sure if it means that you can't update anymore doesn't matter the version of the OS you have. Or if it means that you can always update to the last version released at the moment of the end of support, but you don't get new updates anymore.

So, in my opinion (I didn't try it), you should be able to update to the last W10M OS version released. Check if you have it, and then, you can't expect a new one.

Microsoft is no longer supporting older devices like the Lumia 930, 1520 or 830 with this release, instead, the firm will now be putting those devices on extended support for which they will be eligible to receive only patches and cumulative updates.

Incorrect, there are no more updates of any type. No patches, no cumulative updates, no security updates, whatever you want to call them, there are no more. The last one was in January.
