How do I disconnect OneDrive on my Desktop but keep files/folders intact online?

Hi All,

I am hoping for some advise. I am currently running a macbook connected to OneDrive via the desk top app. I am about to do a reformat to clean the HD up of stuff, and what I am going to do is stick Windows 10 on it via Boot Camp. I want to see what W10 is like before spending money on a Windows powered Laptop or Surface Book etc.

I have a lot of work saved into my Desktop OneDrive folder as one level of backup, and what I would like to do is disconnect the desktop link but not have the folders and files delete from OneDrive itself. I am trying to avoid coping my entire OneDrive folder onto an external HD when I reformat the Mac HDD.

Can anyone advise if this is possible or do I need to have that Desktop-Online link to keep all my files.

If the files you need are in the onedrive folder, then they are being synced automatically to the cloud Head over to onedrive.live.com and check..

As for stopping the sync, I would say right-click on the icon in you icons tray and select exit..
