Windows Central Question

I have a Surface Pro 4 and use a secondary monitor through an HDMI to mini-display port cable.

While attempting to fix my flickering LCD monitor I uninstalled the Generic PNP Monitor Driver only to realise that I could not re-install it. Now when I plug in the monitor, my SP4 does not even recognize the display. I have tried all obvious solutions to no success. Please let me know if anyone knows how to re-install the driver or has an alternative solution to getting the monitor display to work again.

Thanks
Daniel

Right, I think this will work. The aim is to restore your essential system files then trip a reinstall of the driver concerned.

1) Open an elevated command prompt.
2) type DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RESTOREHEALTH (may take a while)
3) type SFC /SCANNOW (may take a while)
4) Close the command prompt, may as well reboot just in case, then open the control panel/device manager
5) Right click your PC name at the top of the tree and select 'Scan for hardware changes'

If it still doesn't work, uninstall and then reinstall your video chipset drivers (either Intel or Intel and Nvidia depending on the swankiness of your device).
