how do I restore sms messages

For some unknown reason i just lost a bunch of sms messages is there a way to restore the messages. Thanks in advance for any help you maybe able to provide Backup been on from the time i setup the 1520 but i see no restore option.

Best thing to do first is to see if they are backed up properly.

Login into your Outlook.com.

Go to this thread, http://forums.windowscentral.com/windows-phone-8/213500-4.htm last page, to get an explanation on how to see your SMSs online.

If you can see them and if you find they're all there, I think all you need to do is this:

Go to Settings -> email + accounts -> MS Account -> long press on it -> sync

That should restore everything, I hope.

Only way to restore your backup is to do a hard reset. You'll get the option to restore on the first boot after hard reset.
