How do I send an email link from a web page?

how to send email link from web page

if i find an article i'd like to send to a friend via gmail, it used to be on windows 7 that i'd press File, Send email link, and a gmail compose would appear with the link in the text part, and it remembered contacts so i just had to press the first letter and the address would pop up.
now, i don't know what to press and haven't been able to send anything that way...
