How do I stop email sync mid sync

I am trying to adjust my sync instructions so it doesn't fownload three months worth of emails but it starts up as soon as I finish setting up my account. How do I stop it mid way?

Can't be paused.. Unless you turn off wifi or go into airplane mode..

My phones have never downloaded that many emails tho?

Open the email App > ellipses (. . .) > settings > sync settings > download email from > I use last 7 days, YMMV
