I have no intention of using xbox music once i get 8.1, especially since i found better music apps in the store. the problem is that its gonna just be dead weight in my phone. So i'm wondering, has anyone found a way of getting rid of it.

P.S.: I dont have an xbox account, so i REALLY have no use for it.

Nope. Once it's installed MS don't want you removing their money-grabber. That is very much not why they turned Music into a store app. You didn't think they would compete on equal terms did you?

The only way is to trick the system by changing the date to way (way) into the future by a few thousand years. Then you can uninstall it.

Set date far into the future, attempt to run app - it will complain there's something wrong and offer you the chance to uninstall it. Hit uninstall, restore date and bye bye app.

I know that works for oem settings, but I tried testing that for the music app and it still ran like normal. Could you confirm this method works for the music app?

Change the date of your cellphone to 14 Dec 2106... , than u can uninstall lots if **** apps ms forcing us to use..
I tried that. It asks if I want to uninstall Xbox Music, but when I tell it to, it does nothing. I tried this on a different app that I don't use anymore, and that uninstalls fine. So, this hack doesn't work for uninstalling "required apps". :(
