Trouble using Nokia 1520 with Automated selection menus

I've only just bought the Nokia 1520 and its my first smart phone experience so please excuse me if this is a dumb question.... When I call one of those service lines where you have to press numbers from a Menu - like '1' for enquiries, '2' for help desk etc - I pull up the screen keypad in the call window and tap the number but it doesn't seem to register. Am I doing this wrong? Do I need to turn on some sort of number sound to make this possible?

BTW Apart from this one difficulty I'm finding the 1520 to be a very nice piece of digital machinery! :amaze:

Try turning on keyboard sounds:
1. Go to settings
2. Go to ringtones+sounds
3. Check '☑ Key press' under 'Play a sound for:' setting.
4. Make sure your volume is high enough.
Let's hope this helps.

I have had that happen to me on a couple of occasions, like you I wasn't sure what was going on. I realised then that the phone had gone into a number dialing mode and was taking my input as a phone number to call, instead of as keyboard input. I reset the phone and since then it's been fine. I don't think it's to do with keyboard tones.
