How do you become friends with someone using x box live?

I got a Microsoft game, and I would like to become friends with somebody on it. I just can't figure out how to!

Open the xBox app and swipe to the avatar page. You will see four green buttons click on the last one and it will take to the friends page. There click on the + button and type in your friend's gamer tag. Then all you have to do is wait for them to accept the invite.
