I have an HTC 8x, went to the Verizon store and got myself a secure NFC SIM card. I've turned on NFC and tap-to-pay... but now what? How exactly is this going to work? As far as I can tell, I need to go to my Microsoft account page and load a debit and/or credit card on my account, which I've done, so now it shows up in my Wallet app. But now what do I do? Do I go up to my local grocery store and touch my phone to their little payment terminal? What happens then? And if it works, how do I know which card I'm paying with?

I'm just confused.

Its my understanding the next step would be to install a third party nfc processing provider (the only one that i know of is Softcard / ISIS) which unfortunately has not release a WindowsPC version yet so, basically you now get to wait [like everyone else].
