How far have you pushed your Surface?

I have done some live video broadcasting, live screen capturing 2 computers over the network, an IP camera as well as using powerpoint for showing slides over the broadcast as well.
Taking in all the video, mixing the video and audio on the computer and streaming to a server is no small feat, but the Surface handled it extremely well.

Although a little different I finally tested Revit 2013 on my Surface Pro 2 256gb with a 4300u cpu. Basically it has all the same hardware as a Surface Pro 3 but in a different case.

I found that it can handle revit files up to 40-50mb without any problem. It started to get choppy with 3D panning on a 110mb file of a 64 unit apartment complex (it had a ton of model in place components). To its credit, it didn't crash but it was just slow. Keep the projects under 50mb, you can pan, render and whatever you have to do. If you just need to open a file to review, print or make a few minor adjustment to the sheets, you can probably work on +100mb files for a short period of time before you get frustrated. I didn't work on it for too long but Im sure it will start heating up within 10-15 mins of work. The SP3 might throttle quicker and hurt performance so that's something to consider.

Don't mean to jump the gun with this. As i am also considering the 128gb. Mine is purely for working purposes with light gaming (i dont expect miracles and i have a X1, PS4 and a very powerful desktop for gaming).

The space isnt much of a concern for me media will be kept primarily on my 128gb SD card. My concern is the 4gb ram. I plan on playing stuff like Football Manager and possibly some MMO's. Obviously i dont expect anything to run above a 720p resolution with everything set to low. But How does emulation run on t his with 4gb? Say like a PS1 or a PS2? I will be running the actual disc that i legally own as i do on my PC so not pirating anything. But curious if this can handle emulation well?

otherwise for day to day use of programs like Word, browsing, and multimedia (no photo-shopping will ever be done on this tablet like ever as i am not in that field of expertise), will 4GB ram be enough? The 128gb version is the only version i can get at present not because of financial contraint but more because i dont want to pay the money cash and no where at all offers the 256 i5 on finance at all in the UK. Only the 128gb and yeah i like to hold the money in case something happens xD Before anyone says if you cant afford dont buy i can affoed the i7 256gb cash i just dont want to pay that much in one lump sum, and i have no CC to put it on either 9dont like them). So my only option falls to the 128gb. So views and what not would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Just some bullet points....
* I didn't realize the Surface Pro 3 supported some wireless displays out of the box until yesterday
* Last year, I bought a brand new Samsung HDTV from Sears at a significant discount. When it arrived, it turned out to be one of their SmartTVs, so I was even more pleased with the deal
* The TV supports Samsung's AllShare Cast which allows you to wirelessly mirror displays from certain Samsung devices.
* Out of the box, I couldn't wireless extend the SP3's display to the TV - it would try but fail
* Found Samsung's Link application, paired it with the TV and voila... I can now wirelessly extend my SP3's display to the TV.

There is a distinct lag in with the mouse, but it works perfect when streaming video.

Wow, I didn't know this. I look forward to testing it out.

I've ran:

Sony Vegas Pro 12: Renders At 1080p
Minecraft: Medium Settings
Visual Studio 2013: Lots Of Lines Of Code!

I use Revit daily and we have a model that has 9,000+ components placed of full 3-D medical equipment. If you could let me know how your performance is that would be awesome. I use a Surface Pro 1 to remote login most of the time, but would like to run Revit natively.

Will do, T- 3 days til I get it. MS demo'd Revit during the release press conference, but I am skeptical of the performance. it meets all spec requirements for Autodesk balanced performance, so we shall see. I wouldn't even try to render on the thing. We have external consultants that do the renderings, that being said, if I had to process an animation or something, I'd RDP into my office workstation.

Any feedback on using Revit on the Surface Pro 3's? I have a number of graphic designers who would be *very* interested in switching to one of these depending how Revit handles larger files.

Thanks!
