How long should an SD card format take?

I've put a new 64 GB SD card in my phone yesterday. After not recognizing it for a few minutes, it prompted me to format. It's now been formatting for 18 hours. Is this normal?

It takes just few seconds to format a 64GB SD card via your phone. Do a soft reset and then try formatting it again and check if it works.
