Windows Central Question

I am in the market of purchasing a new laptop but I absolutely do not like Windows 10. If I purchase a laptop with Windows 10 and a window 8 disk, will it work? Also I'm not familiar with what disk I would have to purchase. Is there a specific name?

Not entirely sure what issues you have with Windows 10. I personally like it.

If you want Windows 8.1 (better than just 8) you need to get something like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-...ag=hawk-future-21&ascsubtag=UUwpUvbUpU3544092

That would be the way to go about it...

However, there may be issues with any 3rd party software that comes with the notebook... You might want to do a little research and make sure there is Win 8.1 software available for the notebook before purchasing... For example, my HP Omen has special software it ships with to adjust the color of the backlit keyboard (it happens to be available for 8.1, so no worries), but that may not be true for all software specific to Asus, Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc...

ALSO, there may be some web sites that will let you choose 8.1 or 10 at time of purchase.

Do you use a PC mainly as a desktop and don't touch any Windows Store Apps? If not, I would consider figuring out what it is you don't like about 10 (over 8.1) and see if there is possibly a way to get around it (sometimes registry hacks can enable/disable features to get a more 8.1 feel) The problem with 8.1 is that there are already store apps being released that don't support 8.1. I just feel putting 8.1 on a new machine is limiting it in some respects.

They said laptop not netbook...but yes there could be some issues with 3rd party drivers so it would be best to check prior to downgrading.
