It is really unbelievable how uncomfortable and unintuitive creating or modifying playlists on Windows Phone 8 is. Also simple things like searching your song library (e.g. for songs containing the word "wind" in the title or whatever) are apparently not really implemented. My old blackberry had better multimedia than this phone.

Yes its pathetic, and while in music + videos app, looking for songs is terrible, half the space is gone in the title, then those, a,b,c.. they also take up so much space, plus the scrolling isnt fast enought. :|
MS should really make the search button useful, in app searches and overall phone search are badly needed.

It's not as easy to make playlists in the phone itself as it is to manage them via a third party program when the phone is connected to the pc. Something like Windows Media Player works really well. More info here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/windows-phone-8/222709-windows-phone-music-tips-tricks.html I really can't wait for the in-app searching to be added for the music collection. Such a basic feature you'd think it should be first on their list!

Yeah in-app search and better playlist management is very import thing for most users, MS should fix these asap.

a,b,c takes up space: tap on a letter and it opens the alphabet, now tap on the letter you want to go to.
The alphabet tags work the same in the app list, people hub, whatsapp, and even on outlook.com. Also in the photos hub, under "date". You can navigate through months by tapping a month. The tags are functional, not merely to take up space.

Yes they are ver much functional and useful, but they should be implemented in the right way, when i open the songs tab in music + videos, the big title takes a lot of space which i think it shouldn't. Also the a,b,c tabs would be very much appreciated if they were available in the playlist being played. I hope you understand where/what i mean.

Re: how to make playlist on music? solved

hi,
if u want to make ur own playlist on windows phone then u have to do 2 things:

1. go to music and play any song. now click on the 3 dots(elipses) and click on save as playlist. Now give any name to your playlist. (suppose- "my playlist")

2. Now connect your windows phone 8 to ur PC or laptop. go to sd card>Music>Playlist.
now right click on your playlist (my playlist) and click on properties. Now go to reference tab. Now delete the songs u dont want. after that click on apply and ok.

your playlist have been created.
enjoy:smile:

I've tried tapping on a song. abut the only options available below the 3 dots were 1. share, 2. Delete and 3. Audio settings

M clueless what to do next

Connect you phone on PC and putt songs in folder Playlist, select songs and click on right click an select "create playlist" and click ok.
I hope this help

It's very easy. First of all, stop the music using some"stop music" app. Go to music and video > music. Open desired page( songs/artist/ album/ genre etc). If u want to add song by song, go to song page and hold down each desired songs, and add to now playing. If u want some albums to the playlist, hold down the album name and repeat the process. Then go to 'now playing' screen- click the songs below the song progress bar. U will get a save option. Save the playlist with desired name....

Step 1 : Check your now playing list whether its empty or not. if not den download an app called STOP Music for free.
Step 2 : scroll Through songs and tap and hold till menu options appear then select add to now playing.
Step 3 : After adding your songs to Now Playing List. Click the three dotted icon on the Now Playing Screen and then select save as playlist.
Step 4 : Name ur playlist and u hav completed it.

If ur now playing list is not empty, then a play a single song from 'New' or 'Recent' then proceed as stated from step 2
You can also select a group of song. For Example, if u want to add all songs of Pitbull - Go to Artists and tap&hold pitbull and select add to playlist.

I hope this helped

This does not work for me. When I right click on the playlist and click on "Properties", I do NOT get a "reference" tab. I have created the playlist on the phone. Played songs. Connected the phone to my Surface Pro tablet. Opened Windows Explorer, navigated to Phone/Music/Playlists and right clicked on the playlist I created, clicked on "Properties", but I do NOT get a "referenced" tab.

Why can't Microsoft create a better program than this! This is PATHETIC! If Microsoft doesn't start listening to what us customers want and making better product software, I will be going back to Android and I'm one of Mircrosofts BIGGEST fans!
