How to Open a new tab in windows 8 phone using javascript

Hi,
I want to open a new tab in windows 8 browser using javascript ,but as soon as I click on the link it opens in same window.I wanted to do this because I want to send some parameters from child window to parent window to update the data in my database , but unable to do so.Please help me out as I have tried many possible solutions but was not succeeded.
