How to prevent an inappropriate drive icon being allocated

Windows Explorer in x32Win10ProV21H1 is showing a CDrom icon for USB sticks or one of the partitions of large drive. I know how to correct the icon by means of an autorun.bat, but I want to avoid the error in the first place.

The solution may well be to ensure that only the Optical Drive is labled 'D'
