How to restore from a USB Drive

So I purchased a 32GB DVP8 and created a usb drive to move the recovery partition as recommended by MS and dell due to hard drive size limits. I just purchased a 64gb unit and want to restore the 32gig unit and give it to my son. when I go to recovery it asks for the USB media to be put in. I put it in then it says I need to be plugged in. as we all know the plug is in the same port as the usb drive.

anyone know how this can be done?

I find it best to use a microSD card and plug it in.

Also, you could find one of those doohickeys that charges and lets you use USB for some reason. They exist.

Do not restore, perform a clean install and it should work without the tablet plugged in
