How to see Windows Phone files on PC?

I have Lumia 640 XL and everything works fine but I cannot see files in phone memory. It says I have 500 mb left out of around 7.5, and that is ok, but what is bugging me is that I cannot see exactly what files are there because when I connect to PC and go to phone i see a bunch of folders like Downloads, Music, Pictures, Documents etc...

BUT THEY ARE ALL EMPTY?? Why is that?

have you stored all your apps on phone memory and your other stuff like pictures and music on sdcard? if you do then app data wont be visible to you on PC as those are hidden. you can go to storage sense and find out what actually is hogging up the space and clear it accordingly.

also check whether you have unlocked your phone while connecting it to the PC.
