How to update to WM 10 and install Skype?

Hello,

Skype stopped working on WP 8.1 So i tried to update it to WM 10 using Update Advisor app. I took a long time, finally was installed, but I still wasn't able to install Skype.

I checked for updates and tried to install them, but this broke the phone There were only gears and sad face ":-("

I was able to fix that using Windows Device Recovery Tool, all data from the phone was erased and it was back to 8.1.

How can I safely update it and install Skype?

First of all which phone are you trying to install the WM10 on?

As the method of getting WM10 onto the phone will differ from a certain range of phones, as for instance x20 phones did not go beyond the Threshold 2 update.

Most phones did not get the WM10 creators update only a handful of phones.
