How will MS/Nokia screw up the 730 ?

I like that thread! 😊
Potential 730 buyer... And its kinda funny how they will screw it up!

That's a matter of personal opinion. I've had it, barely noticed when it disappeared. It's just a waste of resources and completely useless.
Oh yeah, I do wear a good old wrist watch to give me the time!

I use glance not just to look at the time but quickly check my notifications and that's very helpful!

All I'm worried about is price. I'm looking for a Moto G sort of Windows Phone and the 635 isn't it. If I'm going to drop $200+ on a phone, it doesn't need to be the greatest phone (obviously won't at that price point), but it can't be missing basic features like 1 GB RAM and a front facing camera.

It's already confirmed that It would be having 1 gb ram. Why are the people here so pessimistic?

That was a 635 dig, not a 735 dig, though I guess it sort of read like a 735 dig - sorry. I'm well aware of the specs, just the wrong price in the US is going to kill it. The OS is already a speck of dirt compared to Android and iOS, but with a wide range of competitively priced Android handsets, WP needs to match them, if not undercut them, in order to boost sales.

Haven't they already done that by excluding the camera key?

Individually speaking, each of the features seems small. But those are just parts of a whole. If it is missing glance OR camera button OR has a higher price tag than Moto G OR lower-res display OR no ClearBlack, then it's fine. But if it has 2 or more of those issues then it really *is* a deal breaker.

I don't know why people are saying it's A-OK for it to miss the camera button because it's a 'selfie phone' because MS is backtracking on what made WP appealing in the first place. I hate this sudden disappearance of ClearBlack on 530 and 630, and everyone I know who owns a WP device absolutely loves the camera key. MS is already screwing up Nokia's hard-earned reputation at making class hardware at affordable prices.

I have camera key, still don't use it. No need for me, I can hold my phone stable without using camera key & 730 is definitely not going to be cheaper than Moto G.

I know that its quite disappointing that 630,635 didn't have 1gb ram, but it wasn't priced too high. & why do people underestimate windows? I know it lacks apps, but still you have many good features. I would like to tell you that iPhones lack some basic features like Bluetooth sharing, NFC, dual sim support, micro sd support & much more due to which is sales are decreasing across the world. All the Android phones lag, except for some high end phones. Even the worst companies in the world have Android & many of the phones cannot be used roughly, cause they break. & please stick to the topic of this thread, no point comparing Android & iOS. 730 & 735 won't be priced so high

I'm guessing the "screw-ups" with the 530/630/635 are down to different expectations of margins between Nokia and Microsoft. It's a bummer we went backwards in some key areas (ALS, camera button), but know that as we move up the chain, each additional dollar in the end transfer price adds a significant chunk to what can be fit into the BOM. Going down the chain is the opposite, obviously. Each dollar shaved off the transfer price requires a significant portion of it to come out of the BOM. Getting to $189 for an LTE 635 was an effort, and it resulted in unsavory cuts. I think many of those features will be safe with the 730/735.

My guess/collection of various rumors on major specs and pricing:
- 720p display, soft-buttons
- your typical bevy of sensors, including ALS
- MSM8926, 1GB RAM
- $229 for the 3G/HSPA, $259 for the LTE version

P.S. For folks lamenting ClearBlack, the Lumia 630/635 does include at least enough of the various technologies that encompass "ClearBlack" to allow it to carry the branding. I'm test driving a 635, and contrast and viewing angles don't look appreciably worse than my 920, for example.

After all, MS/nokia didn't screw 730. It has 4.7"clearblack, gorilla glass 3, 2220mAh battery, 1gb ram, 6.7 mp camera with Zeiss optics, 5 mp from camera, 8gb with 128gb expandable memory, snapdragon 400 quad core processor, 720p display & it comes with Nokia Lumia Debian Red update
Specs are good according to me.

Are sure it comes with Zeiss optics?
Yes, agree it has good specs. But no glance:(

A few interesting things from the spec page, for the 730/735.

- includes NFC by default
- includes Qi wireless charging by default (735 only)
- somehow the battery is removable (not clear how the entire back cover comes off)

I never said its about me, was just giving views. That's what people do here. I know many people need camera key. I didn't say everyone are the same. Also what do you want to say about sales of 520? The most sold WP? My point was you could use a phone without a camera key. Why underestimate other features? Also there are many of my friends who own 520(without camera key possibly) & don't use glance. There is no point not buying a good phone just because it doesn't have camera key.

I know many people that have no use for NFC, Qi charging or SD card. These people do not know that these features exist and moreover, they do not care. They do care about pictures, and having/not having a dedicated camera button can make a buy/no buy decision for these people. It's definitely possible to use a phone without it, of course, but the added convenience can be very important to some people.

Point is, different features appeal to different people to different degress. Me, for example - I really do not care about the camera - for it's main purposes, Facebook/Insta/Snapchat uploads, it performs very adequately on my Nexus 5. But I do care about NFC, HDMI Out and Chromecast capabilities.
