How's your Lumia Camera, now with full Denim?

After updating to full Denim on a Lumia 830 and playing a couple of hours with Lumia Camera here's my initial experience:

What I like:
- The app is opening really fast, even when screen is off. It is saving images faster also.
- The long press configurable option for camera button is nice
- Rich capture mode and editing rich capture images is more than nice :). It is excellent!
- Focusing when taking videos is working fine.
- It can take JPEG+DNG.

What I don't like:
- Viewfinder for photos is laggy and it's stuttering now. I tried disabling living images, changing to full manual control, simplifying all... but no luck, the viewfinder does not provide a smooth image. This is not happening in video mode. Is this happening to you too?. It seems that this is happening only to me, it got better after removing SD Card and soft-resetting it..
- The quick option buttons could be larger.
- After taking a rich capture image entering in edit mode takes 7-8 seconds
- Living images doesn't play with fluidity anymore. I mean that first it shows the photo, then playing the short movie, then the photo again. When scrolling to new images it used to play directly the short movie, it was a beeter visual experience. This happens to Storyteller too, only viewing images from Lumia Camera Classic works as before now.

About image quality... Well, I did not compare photos yet. Maybe you may share your experience.

You are reffering to what part? When editing rich capture images?
(Btw, even if you get e stellar speed sd card performance won't increase as much as you'll think. It is about the reader, let's say it is not made for UHS... Or even class 10, in my experience)

Careful! This option seems to have been remove with the latest update. I've had that option running 5.0.1.11 and am missing it with 5.0.2.42.
My guess is that they figured out it's too flaky. I've had to disable it since I was almost unable to take a single picture with this option set to either burst or video.

I have 5.0.2.42 installed (updated this morning). And I still have the "camera key press an hold" option (in settings > general). And it works. Check again.

Btw, after update the stuttering of the viewfinder image is still present.

If you open the app you see on the right middle side a vertical bar with 3 icons.
There you can see a little stick with a star.
That is to enable it

Why I can't have the "Edit Rich Capture" or "Open in Lumia Camera" option when I view the picture taken in Photos? Other pictures taken pre-denim still have the option "Open in Lumia Camera". To edit the pictures taken, I have to run Lumia Camera and press the round photo icon on top left of the viewfinder screen of Lumia Camera. Why can't just I "Edit Rich Capture" or "Open in Lumia Camera" from Photos? And one more thing, I can't resize/zoom just the way I used to,using the Open Lumia Camera option and not the pen icon and select "Crop, rotate, auto-fix"?

Is there any way for me to enable "Rich Capture" by default? It is irritating to tap on the "magical wand" icon everytime I run Lumia Camera.

You're right, they've moved it. It used to be under "photos" in 5.0.1, not under "general".
Either way it still doesn't work the way I'd expect it to. With this set to "burst" I can either take a ton of pictures or no picture at all, but I barely ever manage to take exactly one photo.

For me it remains turned on once I activate it. Same for the flash, the app seems to remeber the setting and restores it next time I launch the camera.

I had set it to video mode. But I just tried the burst mode when holding camera button. It works quite ok for me. Maybe you are expecting to shoot when holding begins from other screen than camera one?

Is it? Sorry, not for my phone. For flash, you are right. It will save the last state when we last use but not for rich capture. I have to turn it on manually by tapping on the magical wand icon.

Okay. I found it. When we close/exit Lumia Camera 5 after we use it, the app is not entirely closed. Press and hold the back button and it will show apps that working in the background. There will be Lumia Camera 5 there. I always manually close all the apps run in the background by press and hold the back button and swipe down all the apps one by one.
After a few try, when I let Lumia Camera 5 run in the background (I did not manually close the app), the settings still as same as I set it before. Hence, by default Rich Capture is turn on by default. But if I manually close Lumia Camera that runs in the background, the Rich Capture is turned off. So,my guess, let Lumia Camera runs in the background.

I am really not a fan of this right now. I don't like that I can't just take a simple picture by holding down the camera button. Always resulting in these 1 seconds videos and often doesn't show up as it should be if I've moved too early.

Any way to disable this entirely? I just want to take pictures easily! The only way I can take a single pic is by tapping the on-screen camera button. Not ideal for me. Any tips?

EDIT: Just figured it out. Had to actually close the app manually after changing the settings. It was running in the background and still on the video long-press setting. Now its working fine!

I'm with you on that, but you can change that in the camera settings to record, burst or nothing

So I had an 830 for a couple weeks when it was first released, I really liked it...but among the shortlist of issues I had one was the camera. So how fast is it now from screen off after pressing the camera button? What is the new shot to shot time looking like? Are the images focusing quickly and well compared to before the last camera update?

I have no idea why everyone is bragging about the fast start up of the Lumia Camera app. I have a 928 (perhaps it is just my version) but I find the Lumia Camera is dreadfully slow to start. Yes, I have the Denim update. I have switched back to the Microsoft Camera. It starts much faster of the two.
