I'm an android user and have been wanting to try a windows phone. A friend of mine dropped her htc 8x and cracked the screen. Everything works fine otherwise. I'd like to replace the screen and try this phone on a prepaid plan. Has anyone on here done this? And where should I order the screen from? Thanks!

welcome to wpcentral forums derekeh :)
I would recommend you to take your friend's HTC 8X to the nearest service centre or to a local shop to get it repaired :)

if u can get it fixed for less than 100 fine, but honestly sometimes its cheaper to buy a whole new phone from amazon or ebay

Id have to agree I just bought a tmobile 8x for less than 120 and the unlocked att ones go for 120-150. The lumia 810 usually goes for less than 130 I think all would be able to be purchased for less than the repair cost, unless you think you are handy enough to tackle the job yourself.

you should go for Lumia instead of htc , reasons :- nokia has many exclusive apps which aren't available on htc or any other OEM , but if you like the design and feel of 8X it's still a flagship phone by htc

I wanted to try fixing it myself but just the parts seem costly. I may just have to wait.

I will tell you now, opening the 8X to get to all the goodies is a helluva job. Getting it all back together again correctly, is a whole other story. Great phone!! I love it!! But..... If you can get it done cheap, do it. If you're getting cheap and want to try, I've seen complete screen assemblies for like $60.
