That pre-flash pulse thing I turned it off since I don't really use the flash often, is this a bad idea? or did you do it also?

The biggest difference I think is that it will be harder to focus in low-light

I ALWAYS keep the pre flash on. It helps the camera focus better and faster! Flash on or off, the pre flash works wonders!

How did you disabled that pre-flash, i don't think that's possible, only the small led for focus i guess. I want to sync my wireless other flash in slave mode, but it responds on the first flash, so it does not work, and the images are still dark.

I have it disabled unless it's a low-light portrait, otherwise I prefer to set focus manually when I can :P

How do you disable the pre-flash? afaik the only option is focus light.
A pre-flash is a lesser flash before the actual flash for TTL exposure corrections.

Wireless flash... oh god...............
damn it would make 1020 a totally studio capable camera and make a serious threat to DSLRs.

I think by pre-flash he meant the light that shines before the xenon flash fires; in this case the focus assist light
