Lumia 1020

taken with iso 200 in low light (shutter speed 1/60)

808 Pureview

taken with iso 64 with much more light (shutter speed 1/286)

Thats just sad. What a disgrace to the pureview name established by the 808.

I will repeat myself again btw, I will bet any one 100 dollars that in daylight comparisons, the 1020 will end up looking like a toy camera compared to the 808.

I dont see the 808 outperforming the 1020 at all. especially considering more than double amount of iso sensitivity in the lumia 1020 picture.
(you can click on the image to better view noise, i resized with nearest neigbour to isolate noise)

So cod3rror got banned, no wonder after causing so much trouble, at least makes me feel at ease that there are moderators taking care of the forums.

back to the topic i would like to see some comparisons with current flagships, note 2, s4, iphone 5, htc one, BB z10, and i wouldnt doubt it this would be compared later on with the honami, got to love competition, bring it on I want to see more innovation.

This is as close as a comparison shot between the two that we can get at the moment, generally the same scenery and light conditions. And the 1020 kind of wins . Sharpness is better and therw's no real tradeoff for noise. Aside from rightmost part of the 1020's image that is off. To me if daylight images are of comparable quality, then there's no question which is the better overall camera, given the OIS and the new procam UI. Can't wait for those indepth real comparisons to come out. Especially with iphone5, galaxy s4 and all the others in the mix.

Nokia is announcing something big tomorrow. I'm anticipating that they have duct taped an 808 to a 1020 to give us the 1828.

try always take images with lowest possible iso, iso 100.
But those shots won't work if you havent enough light at hand because the image gets blurred.

You could force the 1020 to use iso 100, xenon flash and a shutterspeed between 1/125-1/400.
Then make a photograph of a cigarette from 20cm away in complete darkness on a white paper.
And someone in this forum with a 808 should do the same.

Wish the could release Lumia 1020 in the UK sooner.

Not sure if a Retina MBP is needed to get the most out of it.

If I win the lottery / live on bread for the next 3 month, might just get both.

Why is that you guys cannot wait for another week to make conclusions?. katamari201 - Pls bite your tongue for a week and we will all know if 1020 beats 808 now or few updates later.. Remember 808 was 5 years in making and when it launched, it was fully ready. I am sure Nokia had to release 1020 urgently with so many copy cats showing up.. with different technologies.. so either come out now and sort out software in a few months or just forever be the one who release projects which came out later.

808 is a dead end phone.. no body buys it other than that few crazy guys. 1020 is the present and future. Pple didn't want to buy 808 due to Symbian. They were waiting for 1020.. 808 can be the king which no one bothers.

808 wasn't "fully" ready at the time of the launch. The big ISO bug was corrected many months later with FP2.
