I just purchased an unlocked 1020 and cannot update to 8.1

I bought a Nokia 1020 unlocked last week from a private seller. He said he got it at the microsoft booth at some trade show in Miami. (tech-con?). I'm currently on T-mobile with DP but no 8.1 update 1.

Under settings > about it says my carrier is Cv Gbie, whatever that means.
Manufacturer name under settings > extra+info says: RM-875_eu_euro1_211
Mobile operator: 000-GB.

I don't know what any of that means. But I can say that my phone won't update to update 1 yet.

Update 1 came to DP only to all, not as an OTA directly. You can update this phone to WP8.1 Update 1 through DP, that is working perfectly fine.

Register as a developer on windows phone site (its actually quite easy), then Download the developer preview app. Make sure phones backup settings are on, then run the app. That simple.

No actually it's not. As I said before, my 1020 is running 8.1, which was received through DP.
But now I can click "check for updates" forever and it says there isn't one.
It can't make app folders and has an older build number compared to my 928, which can make app folders.

Check if you are still enrolled in the Developer Preview.. Sometimes updating unchecks that box..
