Hello,
This is my first time posting on here so sorry in advance if I've put this thread in the wrong forum.
Ok, so I currently have a HTC Radar with WP7.8, which I love, but I think it's time to upgrade to WP8 so I'm am planning on getting one after Christmas. I don't have a huge budget, max ?250 and I'm not sure which Lumia to go for. I'm 17 no business capabilities required, I only need my phone to have a decent camera for the occasional pictures, a front camera is vital for me too, both for social networking, and I like to be able to change the colour of my phone to make it more personalised. Hardware isn't really that important for me either, as long as it does the job and the battery lasts me a day, and I also like to be sure that my phone will get software updates for at least a year after I buy it, unlike what happened with my Radar. When it comes to screen size I'm not too fussed as long as it fits in my jean pocket. I don't use my phone for games so storage capacity is not an issue either. I know I should be looking at the Low to Mid range Lumias but they're all so close in specs that I don't know which to go for, and there are so many mixed reviews that I get confused, so I thought I'd ask the windows phone experts ;)
Thanks in advance for the help :)

Thank you, I think the UK just offers the international version, we don't really have carrier differences as far as I know. Also I don't really know much about hardware stuff, but would the 512mb ram in the 625 be a problem when it comes to future software updates or is it not an issue? :)

u have to go for lumia 820
Its much much better than 625
I was thinking of the 820 at first but then quite a lot of people moan about the battery life so I got a bit put off by it, I do like it overall as a phone and I like the cyan option too :P

I think I'll go for the Lumia 820, after loads of research, it does seem to be overall the best for me, and it's on amazon for ?100 off the normal price so it's higher specs for almost the same price as the cheaper Lumias, thanks for the help, now I can't wait for payday so I can order it! :D

Well its true if you use ur phone completely for browsing internet and WhatsApp, you'll be able to drain the battery within a short span of time. If yours is a moderate usage it should last up to a day. I like the 820, nice display and good camera. I think 820 is already out of stock at most places yeah?

I wouldn't say I'm a hard core phone user, I used to have a blackberry curve before my radar and that lasted me a day, even though blackberry batteries were horrid then, and yeah it's out of stock in the shops in the UK but it's still available on Amazon, so hopefully it'll stick around until the 26th :)

Good phone for the money, has the same insides as the 900/920/925/928 etc but a smaller outside. The 4.3 screen is just the right size. It has a SD card slot, can use wireless charging and the battery is removeable. I have no problem getting 2 days plus on my 820 from a charge. I love my 820, but I also bought a 520 to backup my 820. IF you really are on a tight budget the 520 will do you fine and you can get it for less than 75$. Try for the 820, but if you can't fine one wait for the 525 which is due soon and is a upgraded 520.

Thanks, I checked on amazon and the Lumia 820 is actually cheaper than my budget limit so I think I might just go for it, seems like the perfect Lumia for me :)

Just keep in mind that the front camera on the 820 pretty much sucks for any use other than basic videoconferencing (VGA resolution)

Is it anything like the front camera on the iPod touch 4th gen, because that one works fine for me, I don't really understand camera resolutions so VGA means nothing to me :)

In day light front camera is great...at night u need ambient lighting which is not a major problem

I think it is a lot like the 4th gen iPod front camera... so if that works... then the 820 is indeed the phone for you... you get a lot of Hardware (basically the same internals as the 920) for the price now! so enjoy and have fun with the 820.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped, looks like the 820 is definitely the one for me! :D now, how do I change the thread title to say it's solved so people don't waste their time on a solved issue? :)
