That isn't related to the Cyan update issue, so bears no relevance. Unless of course, he explicitly stated that the issue is fixed in GDR1...
It may have Cyan, they didn't clarify if the upgrade to GDR1 will include Cyan.

It doesn't - Cyan is a firmware update (which happens to include an OS update), GDR1 is an OS update to the OS Cyan (or Dev Preview) brings. So no, it won't bring Cyan.

You will not lose your contacts if you use the same email account and do a backup.

Still no word about releasing Cyan for 8.1.1 Dev Prev users. Wife just received Cyan+8.1.1 for her UK L620 (originally on O2, now on 3UK). Update was from standard 8.0 and has gone smoothly. My L620 CV, 8.1.1 Dev Prev does not get Cyan firmware update yet so looks like Microsoft have abandoned 000,s of Dev Prev users in favour of a few corporate users with Bitlocker enabled. Yes I know I could use NSRT to revert to 8.0 etc. etc. if I had access to Windows 7+ of course - which I don't! - and I could be bothered to go through all the hassle - which I can't. So the Dev Prev users who helped Microsoft by trial running 8.1.1 are still waiting for a proper rollout fix.

i dont REFUSE to go back to production....but im in no rush to. My 1020 has been running well (aside from the below average battery), so i can hold out for a while before making the decision.

For all us Verizon users, it doesn't matter if you downgrade to WP8 (prod) or not because Cyan is still not available. Might as well hang with DP8.1 and see what shakes out.

Hi I'm on DP GDR1 and honestly i cannot downgrade and install Cyan due to NSRT (removed and re-installed software) is not working properly. I'm stuck in DP. worst come to worst i have to drop by Nokia Service center to have Cyan on my 1020.
