I upgraded from Windows7 to 10 and now have a black screen with no cursor. How can I fix this?

I upgraded from windows7 to 10 and now have a black screen with no cursor

I assume it installed. I shut it off and turned it back on. I get a 4 pane window in the center of the screen with 6 dots circling below. After about 30 seconds, the screen goes black and there is no cursor.
