I upgraded to Windows 10 and my system is painfully slow. How can I get it working better?

I upgraded to windows 10 and my system is painfully slow.

Internet takes a good minute to 2 to load. Same when I click to open apps. Help!! My laptop was great before this upgrade. I have a HP Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook. 8GB Ram with a 64-bit system/processor running Windows 10 Home. Intel Core i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz 2.30GHz

It takes a while for the system to index your files. Once completed, things will start to speed up. Leave your computer running overnight and all should be fine in the morning.
