I owned a surface pro 3 years ago. Liked it minus fan and heat issues and work load issues and ended up returning it and purchased a macbook pro for extensive work flow.

Also own an iMac.

And that brings me to where I am today. I want another device. I was debating between a galaxy book m3 and a suitcase pro.

A month ago I purchased a samsung tab s3 with the keyboard and pen. Loved that device but returned it. Was getting major scrolling lag with Facebook and web browsing. If I'm spending 600 bucks I shouldn't be getting lag like that. I do have fios and someone mentioned it might be internet settings causing the lag. I dunno. Either way...

I also purchased a zenpad 3s 10 after I returned the tab s3 but not digging it.

So that leaves me at the galaxy book or surface pro.

I like the idea of a tablet, keyboard and pen. Not a fan of lag doing simple things. I would primarily use this for web. Media. And light work, writing, etc..

Best buy has the surface pro m3 with keyboard case for 699. They also have the pro i5 4gb ram without keyboard for 699. And they have the gslaxy book m3 with keyboard and pen for 629. I'm looking for honest help which one would work. The gslaxy book stands out because for 629 you getthe keyboard and pen. I dunno what to do. I also like a good display, with the m3 models aren't you downgrading your display?

I had an Sp3 for 2yrs and then upgraded to an sp2017 i7 and couldn't be happier. I don't have lag when scrolling through websites unless on slow Wi-Fi connection. Fan is quieter than SP3 and heat hasn't been much of a problem even when using CAD, Adobe premiere and other resource intense software.

I think overall I'm looking at the M3 version. Looking between the Galaxy Book m3 and the Surface Pro m3. I know this isn't a samsung forum but both run windows so hopefully it's alright to discuss both in here.

I know minor things are different. Galaxy book doesn't have a rear camera, etc. Not sure if there are any short comings on the Surface Pro M3. But as far as performance goes, if both are very similar to almost identical wondering if the Galaxy Book makes sense if that's kind of where I want my budget to be. Or if I should look at the Surface. I just don't want to buy something and have to return it to get the other device. Already did that with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 so I don't want to keep returning stuff.

Only pro for the Galaxy Book that I see is that it comes with both the typepad case and the Stylus which I want. If the Surface Pro m3 has the exact same performance I would have to buy the stylus for 100 more....

Tough call. Not sure SPM3 is worth it in your case. I already had a bunch of accessories with my SP3 that I still use with my SP2017. For example, I have an SP3 and SP4 dock, SP4 keyboard and several cases I still use with my SP2017. I sold the SP3 pen and sP3 keyboard with SP3 and kept everything else. The big reason I purchased the SP2017 was for the i7 speed, improved battery life, screen an pen. I recall playing with other brands when I was shopping for an SP3 replacement and felt the SP2017 pen was better than all others I tried. For me, the SP kick stand helps when using as a tablet because I can prop the device on my index fingers and use both thumbs to scroll, type with split on screen keyboard, etc. Helps reduce fatigue, especially when on cramped airplanes with no elbow room.

I agree with a lot of this. Kickstand is a plus also.

I actually ordered the galaxy book. 629 for m3, keyboard and s-pen plus it integrates with my note 8. Messages and stuff.

Now, if this thing lags doing simple things then it's going back. What drove me to this purchase was budget. I'll report back. I think the keyboard is much better on the surface but once i get my book tomorrow I'll find out...

I got the i5 8gig/256gb and couldn't be happier. No fan means no fan noise and has never got too hot. It runs AutoCAD with no problems. I use it daily as a tablet/laptop.

I had an SP3 for almost four years. I suppose you could call it an SP3+, because I had the SP4 keyboard and pen. I just got myself the SP (2017) i7, 256GB, 8GB RAM. I used my student discount and got it from the Microsoft store for $159 cheaper than Best Buy. It was about $59 more expensive than Amazon for the same system. Since I already have the SP4 keyboard (cyan) and the SP4 Surface Pen, I saved a few bucks there.
