IE9 Mobile Website Quality

I'm a current Android user, but will switch to WP as soon as some good devices come to VZW. However, I've noticed that mobile websites are very low quality and don't offer as much content as mobile websites on android, IOS, or Blackberry devices. If I go to foxnews.com or cnn.com, it brings me right to the mobile websites which are worse in quality than any other device I've used. If I go to the same websites on an android or iPhone, the mobile website is actually pretty good. Any idea if this poor website experience is a development need for WP or is it something that websites need to optimize their sites for WP?

...maybe I'm wrong, but two possibility

- The website doesn't work well with IE9 (which uses different rendering engine than Webkit in other smartphones). The website need to be optimized.
- The website still don't recognize IE9's user agent and fall back to the lowest common denominator (for feature phone) because it's not sure if the site for Android and iOS would work with this unknown browser (maybe yes, maybe no). The website just need to recognize IE9.

In settings there are options for mobile and desktop views.

Wow, you watch fox news, wow.
Ok, anyways, did you remember to configure the settings to mobile or desktop view? Some of the websites haven't been changed yet.

I've tried it set to mobile and non-mobile settings and the same result came from both websites, foxnews AND cnn.

But video content oftentimes cannot be viewed on the full version of websites since they are usually flash based.

IE isn't WebKit based? What exactly does WebKit do for browsing? I always see people praise it on other platforms.

Maybe clear cache? The desktop version worked on both sites in IE for me.

Use desktop view. No reason to use mobile view unless you're on a 2G connection or 2G quality connection (sprint for instance)

Constantly panning and zooming is a terrible experience when you sing a smartphone with one hand, especially with these huge screens.

The reason is cause of the rendering engine. I've bought up this issue several times.

No it uses a Trident engine equivalent to that used in desktop IE with mobile support added in (obviously).

The issue is not not getting the mobile site. It's site rendered in non webkit browsers rendering differently and in some cases having some missing parts, like comment feeds on some webkit optimized blog sites - for example.

Mobile websites are oftentimes quite terrible in IE9. They look like websites loaded up on a Treo 600 from eight years ago which is repulsive when compared to what you get on IOS and Android...
