if you buy the band buy the $39 insurance

I had a battery die, and when they replaced it, they asked about the insurance and I was like not thanks....then I come back here and see all the potential issues with the strap, etc...and I went back to the store and got the insurance. You can buy it up to 45 days post purchase if you got it at the MS Store.

I agree. I think the Microsoft Complete is probably worth it. Even if it is one sixth of the price of actual product, I like the peace of mind of know that if something happens, i'm covered.

I got a 3 year warranty extension for around the same price in the UK

Easy decision. The Band 1 had some issues that started showing up several months after initial purchase. They obviously improved the system design for Band 2, but there are likely still weak points that will show up over time.

Warranties shouldn't be necessary for anything within a year. I'm ok to go without warranty for most of my purchases as I expect 1 year problem free.

However, with the Band2 I bought it because of my experience with Band1, and I just hit everything with it.... so glass screen...

But that's a choice, and shouldn't be because you're afraid the product won't last one year.
