Instagram makes an app for the Apple Watch with no marketshare! Shame on Instagram

Instagram still has not updated the windows phone app after a ridiculous amount of time, but yet they have time to release an app for a platform that has not yet proven itself with sales. Granted the apple watch may have more momentum but this is ridiculous. I say that we harass Instagram on twitter for doing this. Windows phone 8.1 needs to get an update to the official instagram app, and then I read about this. Shame on Instagram.

I know apple is apple to the consumers, but how many apple watches are there available today? How many windows phone devices are in the hands of consumers today? It is crazy that they put their time developing an app for the apple watch before bringing feature parity to their windows phone app. This anti Microsoft approach is just plain crazy, quite frustrating.

Why wouldn't they develop an app for a new apple device? History tells us this will sell out within days if not hours and will sell millions more than there are WP users. Plus as its a companion to the phone app there's an existing userbase to develop for. Makes perfect sense, not seeing any anti-MS bias here.

You said it right, it is a companion app to the iPhone. Yes there are more iPhone users than windows phone users obviously, but how are they going to generate extra revenue from an apple watch? If they put time to make the windows phone app to get feature parity, and yes that includes ads than they would receive more revenue from a potential 70 million users. So, yes I believe this is an anti-Microsoft move. The apple watch may very well be successful, but that doesn't mean they will get 70 million users over devices where ads can be displayed at a reasonable size

There is far more pent up demand in WP for these apps (instagram, snap chat, etc) then there will be on the Apple watch. But Evan Spiegel is the typical Microsoft hater; Google, Steve jobs worshiper that we all have to deal with if we choose to support WP. Therefore, no app parity for us on WP.

They don't need to and they know that. Why? because they know Rudy is doing all the leg work for them. I would bet the only reason they have an app is because MS paid them to get one out there.

All Facebook has to do is make 6tag the official app. Rebrand it and keep the developer done. Everyone is happy

You're acting like the developers and owners of Instagram haven't thought about this yet. The demand will be there for iOS. iOS is the more popular brand, Windows is just a speck in their window. The fact that they are ready/have already to make an app for the Apple Watch over updating the actual Instagram app on Windows 8.1 should tell you something.
