Track Pad works fine most of the time but intermittently does not recognize tap or double tap.
Just starts working again after 20 to 30 seconds.
Happens on many different apps and windows as well.

Updated the driver but problem continues.

Anyone else having this issue?

MS "support" (Script Readers) not able to find issue.
No escalation at MS support anymore, just say "exchange".
How far MS has fallen

It could actually be defective hardware. Which would be why they are pointing you to an exchange.

I can think of 3 options (assuming you already have the latest driver/firmware):
1 - Uninstall and reinstall the trackpad.
2 - Perform a full reset on the device.
3 - Exchange the device.

Could also be a driver issue: I'm on my third SB, and ALL of them have had an issue where, at some point, either the trackpad or the entire keyboard drop out for 30 seconds to a few minutes. Eventually it comes back, and it typically only happens when under load [read: Diablo 3, Civ V]

If I exchanged for every issue I would be on my 10th unit.
I have been able search boards such as this and find fixes for all other issues.

Exchanging it sounds so easy until you need to reinstall software and configure the computer.
It can be up to a 10 hour process. With that in mind I would like to explore every other option available before exchanging it.

You play Diablo 3 with the trackpad? Wow. No thanks. That said, I have, on very rare occasion, seen the trackpad be unresponsive on my Surface Book. I don't use it often, though. I prefer to use the keyboard and touchscreen, myself. I have not had the keyboard be unresponsive (yet... *knocks on wood*). I think I have seen the trackpad be unresponsive all of maybe 2 or 3 times in total and none since the last update that was supposed to help with those issues.

I don't blame anyone for not wanting to do an exchange -- setting up a machine over and over again is exhausting. I just had my Surface Pro 3 replaced not 2-3 weeks before getting a Surface Book. Needless to say, going through the setup process that many times inside of a month was just annoying, and wouldn't say I even have THAT much software (and I only did it twice).

I have also noticed this and suspect it is a driver issue as well. Microsoft, please add this to your investigation/fix list. I've also seen cases where it thought I was right-clicking when I was clicking? The whole trackpad behavior seems very odd especially coming from a MacBook Retina (the Surface Book is my wife's, the MacBook Retina is mine, and is my very favorite laptop of all time).

It baffles me that so many folks on here and ms support think its no big deal to exchange.
It seems like the easy fall back response when they don't know the answer.
Shame on MS Support:cry:
