Windows Central Question

I managed to turn off LTE by going to the field test area and unchecking all the LTE bands on my Nokia Lumia 635. That way, I'm able to use 4g. I'm not sure why I like 4g better, but it still seems to work when I'm browsing or watching videos. Is 4g still worth it or is it really better to use LTE? I'm fine as 4g is still fast and nice on my device.

you must be a fellow American.

From a technical standpoint, 4G IS LTE, but because marketing out here, 4G is the label stuck to speedier 3G and 4G LTE is for true 4G tech.

The primary benefit of LTE is speed I believe. But I'm not sure about power usage, I hear its more efficient, but I can't say off the top of my head. I got by just fine when I broke LTE on my 920 some time ago.

The biggest issue is signal.

If enabling 4G causes your phone to shift between 3G and 4G quite a lot this is a huge drain on battery.

If, where you work and live, there is a solid 4G lock... Then yes, the speed boost is worth it. If not, carry on with 3G.
