There are new features planned and announced. They talk about their intentions a great deal with cortana.

Siri also has basically no new features, but like MSFT, I trust apple is working on something.

MSFT is working their arses off right now to try and finish their longer than five year project "windows core" (which is also the long term replacement code for all the individual OSes, including windows
mobile), so it may be some things are put on the backburner for now.

What MSFT is doing is a coding project of the sort of size no one has ever done before - a truely crossplatform adaptive OS. I think people underestimate how much of a time and resource drain something as ambitious as this is. Or for that matter, how ambitious it is.

Cortana is not dead, and it will continue to be updated with windows ten.
