Is early 2018 too soon for a Surface phone?

Microsoft has asserted that the Surface phone will arrive only when it's ready.
Like the Surface, Surface Book, and Surface Studio the Surface "phone" will have the distinct purpose of defining a category. It will not exist simply to exist, nor be positioned just to satisfy the desires of a fan base eager for a super device. Microsoft CMO Chris Capossela explained:

2018 is a bit late, lucky I stayed with windows 8.1 mobile since everybody is having problems with 10.
But worry no more I just got a iPhone 7 plus last week. Now I can get some apps.
Also apple has a better Xbox app than windows mobile , the game app in windows apple calls it Xbox.
Now that is sad just goes to show you Microsoft could care less about windows mobile, and that's a Microsoft app not some other company making it.
I'll keep my 1520 makes a good gps with here maps on it.
