Is it branded or unbranded

Hi everyone,

Sorry to bother you all with a problem like this but i've been searching the net and I can't find a thing. Basically i've moved from Android where I used to flash my phone to unbrand it and get generic firmware straight from the manufacturer (skip out the carrier as O2 will probably be rubbish with 8.1:crying:). I got my phone from O2 UK and it does have a O2 boot logo but i wanted to double check.

I have been searching the net for the code which I can find on my phone for the generic lumia 1520 firmware and the O2 1520 firmware. The best i can find is "RM-937_eu_euro1_942" and under "mobile operator" it says O2O_GB but this may be due to the O2 sim card being in it.

Does anyone have a clue?

Really? Despite the O2 boot up logo? That's great news as ill get the updates sooner.

You will get updates when O2 customers get them. You can flash it with an unbranded RM but I think you will still get the updates when O2 let them out. All the flash does is un brand the phone, I think.

Damn so its not like a unbranded Android. Oh well I better hope O2 pull their fingers out with this update. Thanks for the help.

Black was released on O2 the first day it was available so I think O2 are one of the best ones in the UK

How would i do this? also my WP is my primary phone so is it advisable/stable?

It also gives you the other criteria and notes that depending on the carrier it may void your warranty while on the out of band firmware. Most here have noted no issues. And technically they'd have to prove the software broke your hardware to actually be able to void the warranty in the US thanks to consumer protection laws. Same as after market parts on your car, the air freshener can't be used to deny engine repairs without proof it's the cause of the problem.

Thank you. I have just found this too. http://forums.windowscentral.com/wi...9-developer-preview-program-what-exactly.html

So in your options would a regular user, not developer, be ok to sign up for this or would that be a fools mistake due to bugs etc?

I've put my wife on it mostly for testing from a non-techie. But I also recommended one of my friends go the appStudio route, but if you've been flashing droids then this should be even easier and smoother

I've done all the others as they were available, this one I'll do the same, I grab whatever phone is at hand first either my low-spec test phone or my daily driver and hit update, as soon as it boots to usable I do the other and then the wife's.
