Two weeks ago took the plunge and updated a desktop w/April's Update, was successful as far as we can tell (fingers crossed) although no use since - this computer had seen little to no use since being wiped clean for the Fall's Update, had installed a few select programs but that's about it.
This weekend tried installing April's Update on a laptop. It too had been wiped clean getting Fall's Update installed and had no use since, nor anything installed. After several attempts, and fails due to error Oxc1900101 (none of the normal, recommended fixes, worked, no surprise) I resorted to doing another fresh install. Success although again I haven't used the laptop since so who knows.
So is this how it is going to play-out from hereon in, a fresh installs every time a Feature Update comes along!!! Sure hope not but it's definitely looking that way.
Still a little miffed as to why, when both of these computers had seen little to no use since their last wipe / fresh install (nor an update since), that the OS seems unable to sort this crap out. Is this Microsoft's idea of "advancements in technology" by making a dumber OS? If so, they took the wrong turn somewhere during one of their changes in directions. Just don't know. What we do know, my experiences updating operating systems on anything non-Microsoft (past three years plus) has proven to be far superior, and a more pleasurable experience, bar none.
